Inter-Faith Alliance launches
delicious Healthy Foods Café
at
Slate Branch Retreat House

"Delicious" was the word most often heard as the Somerset Inter-Faith Alliance launched its Healthy Foods Café at Slate Branch Retreat House Tuesday, June 12. One couple who enjoyed the healthy feast of quiche with asparagus and fassoulia fourno, a dish developed originally from navy beans and carrots by nuns at the Ormylia Monastery in Macedonia, said they could be counted on to be "regulars" in Slate Branch.
The Inter-Faith Alliance is a group of people from different cultural and spiritual orientations who come together for the greater common good. Members who are Christian and Muslim as well as practitioners of meditation and Yoga prepare food at home and bring it on site as an offering to the community.
Donations of $5.99 per meal (drinks included, desserts are extra) are held in safe keeping by the Jones Foundation (www.jonesfoundation.net). The next Healthy Foods Café is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, from 11 to 1. The October menu calls for savory pumpkin quiche, French apples, vegetable casserole, spinach salad, and Slate Branch Corn Relish. Squash-pecan pie is available for $1 per slice and apple cider for $1 per glass. Reservations are recommended.
